heiAIMS: Heidelberg – Cape Town Network
for Applied Mathematics and Scientific Computing
heiAIMS is a three-year-project to develop the cooperation between Heidelberg University and the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) into a sustainable partnership.
The field of applied mathematics is an important area of education as it forms the basis of understanding for all STEM topics.
The cooperation will focus on practical applications in concrete fields of development in the five countries where AIMS is operating.
The project consists of three key areas of cooperation: the organization of joint “summer school plus” events, a program for student, lecturer and staff exchange and the development of transfer and culture formats with a focus on women ins STEM.

As part of the Heidelberg-Cape Town Network for Applied Mathematics and Scientific Computing (heiAIMS) project, several grants are currently available for visiting postdoctoral researchers, advanced doctoral candidates or master’s students from Heidelberg to spend up to two months at AIMS South Africa, Cape Town.
